Doraemon: Gadget Cat from the Future is the most recent anime series based on Fujiko Fujio's manga of the same name. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation, it began airing on TV Asahi on April 15, 2005. The series' edited American dub is produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment and premiered July 7, 2014 on Disney XD at 12:30 PM EST during the Animication block.

After the 17th episode "Instant Delivery Magic! / Genie-less Magic Lamp" on July 30, 2014, the series went into a short 2 1/2-week hiatus, before returning on August 18, 2014 with the 18th episode "Evo-Devo Beam / The Action Planner". Starting with this episode, the time slot moved forward to 11:00am EST instead of 12:30pm EST. The time slot was kept for the rest of the season, in which was only one more week.

The adaption, so far, met with good reviews, however with major controversy over the Americanization and the censorship of the show, some saying that the show could have been kept in the Japan setting and simply explained. The show fought many edits to make the show appeal to American audiences, such as changing chopsticks to forks or changing yen notes to dollars. One of the most infamous edits to date is found in the segment "Noby's Turn at Bat" where Doraemon's first aid kit is changed into a garlic pizza [to stop Bat!Noby].

There is also slight controversy about what kind of things Disney is going to do with the show, such as bringing one of the films [mostly mentioned "Stand By Me Doraemon"] to the US, or putting the show on DVD. Nothing related to any of this, or even the future of the show itself, has been announced.

On February 9, 2015, it was (in a very subtle way) confirmed that Doraemon was picked up for a second season by Jessica Gee (the voice actor for Big G's Mom).[1]

On March 12, 2015, Brian Beacock - the voice of Suneo/Sneech, announced on his Twitter account that Season 2 of the English adaptation are in production. Finally, Season 2 of the English dub premiered on June 15, 2015 on Disney XD at 1:00 P.M. EST. The season's episodes originally aired in a steady pattern before going into an irregular schedule and finishing on September 1, 2015.

On June 7, 2016, it was finally revealed, in response to a Facebook chat to and from Bang-Zoom! Entertainment, that they were not continuing the dub with a third season.[2] Fans have not lost hope, however, and are attempting to persuade Bang-Zoom! to get the show back on the air.

Seasons

The US English adaptation of Doraemon has two Seasons and 52 episodes (as of 2015).
